Writer-turned-director Sooni Taraporewala (recently wrote the screenplay of The Namesake) has kept the character of John Abraham in her directorial debut Little Zizou under wraps.

However, it is suggested that John is playing an apprentice to a sculptor in the film. To get into the perfect ‘sculptor’ act, John is known to have actually spent an entire day at sculptor Arzaan Khambata’s workshop in Sewri to learn welding.

Arzaan revealed, “When John began learning, he wasted a lot of metal. But after a while he grasped the skills to weld a metal efficiently.”

When quizzed about how it was working with John, Arzaan said, “John is fun to be with. Popularity has not corrupted him at all. Once I just happened to ask him something in Gujarati and he replied in typical Parsi Gujarati. The fact that both of us are bawas (Parsis) helped us bond. It was a fun session.” Incidentllay, John is playing a Parsi boy in the film.

With this movie Arzan will also be making his debut as an actor. After writing for Mira Nair’s, Salaam Bombay, Missisippi Masala and The Namesake, the film Little Zizou is  Sooni Taraporewala’s first directoral venture.

It stars Boman Irani, Shernaz Patel, Cyrus Broacha and Kurush Deboo and Imaad Shah. The English Films production is an English language film. Although the film revolves around the game of football, John’s character has nothing to do with the game.
